HOW TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A CONGU HANDICAP

1. You cannot enter any Society competitions until you have been allocated a CONGU® handicap.

2. To obtain a CONGU® Handicap, recognised by the SGU and SLGA, you must be a member of Elmwood Golfing Society and submit 3 scorecards, played over 18 holes, at Elmwood Golf Course.

3. Each score card must be marked “1st, 2nd or 3rd Card For Handicap” as appropriate, signed by you and your marker who must be a member of Elmwood Golfing Society with a current CONGU® Handicap. The colour of tees played from must also be noted on the scorecard as this affects the final allocation of your handicap.

4. One of these cards must be played for in a singles stroke play Qualifying Competition (a medal, stableford or bogey round). Add your name to the entry sheet for the competition with the words “for handicap” next to your name. You do not pay an entry fee or sign in on the computer.

5. When you have completed and returned all 3 cards the Handicap Committee will review your scorecards and allocate an appropriate handicap. You will be notified of your handicap, usually within 1 week of submission of the 3 cards.

6. After your handicap has been allocated, your name will be added to the Master Handicap List displayed on the notice board, and the computer will be updated.

7. In order to maintain your handicap, it is necessary for you to play in THREE Qualifying Competitions during the calendar year.
