4. DISPUTES

4.1. Any appeals against decisions made by a Referee in respect of the interpretation of the Rules of Golf and any disputes arising in respect of compliance with these Competition Rules will be referred immediately to the Handicap Committee for resolution.
 
4.2. An appeal against the decision made by the Handicap Committee must be made immediately, in writing, to the Society Secretary for consideration by the Committee at its next meeting.

4.3. A decision by the Committee will be final.

5. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES

5.1. The Handicap Committee shall be responsible for ensuring that entry sheets are posted on the notice board in good time.

5.2. Entry sheets should include the name of competition, date of the competition; playing format; length of the stipulated round; qualifications for taking part; entry fee; the closing date for entries and the date and location of the draw (if applicable).

5.3. Entry sheets for competitions will be displayed on the competition notice board in the foyer for gents/mixed and ladies locker room for ladies at least 21 days prior to the closing date.

5.4. Competition entry sheets for weekend society competitions will close on the Thursday morning before the weekend event. This will allow the starting times to be confirmed with the Pro Shop and for the draw sheet to be available in the Pro Shop 2 days prior to the competition. All other competition entry sheets will state the closing date for entries and payment

5.5. By entering your name on the competition entry sheet you are confirming that you have read and accepted the conditions under which the competition will be played.

5.6. Entering your name on a competition entry sheet constitutes an advanced booking as far as the Elmwood Golfing Society is concerned and as such the normal conditions regarding cancellation will apply (see Clause 1.10). Therefore it is the responsibility of each member to enter only his/her own name on the sheet.
 
5.7. Competition entry fee will be £1.00 unless otherwise stated. Optional – sweep and magic twos 50p each (last revised 2008). Ladies Birdie Tree (April – Sept) entry fee will be £1.00 (last revised 2008).

5.8. The competitions will be played in 2 or 3 balls and summer entry sheets will allow members to add their names within a preferred tee time band.
 
5.9. The Handicap Committee will be responsible for the gents draw and on the Society Website. The Lady Captain/Vice Captain will be responsible for the ladies draws. A draw having been made, the players will play strictly in that order and the groupings of the draw.

5.10. The Handicap Committee will be responsible for posting the gents draw sheet in the Pro Shop and on the Society Website. The Lady Captain/Vice Captain will be responsible for posting the ladies draw sheet in the Pro Shop and on the Society Website.
 
5.11. Draw sheets will include the date of the competition; playing format; length of the stipulated round; tees to be used; teeing off times for each group; handicap allowance, if appropriate.
 
5.12. The Handicap Committee shall be responsible for ensuring the tees are booked
.
5.13. Members who have not entered a competition, prior to the entry sheet being removed may be included in the Competition by contacting the Pro Shop. This does not apply to knockout competitions.

5.14. Members cannot play in a society competition without first signing in and paying any fees that may be due.

5.15. Players should play at a good pace, comply with the rules of golf and local rules, and keep up with the group in front. This is in accordance with the recommendations of the R&A Rules of Golf – Etiquette.

5.16. Committee decisions regarding the administration/management of competitions are final.

5.17. The Committee reserves the right to review and amend the Society Competition Rules as and when deemed appropriate.
